Compassion Hospice is a full service hospice agency operating in San Antonio, Tx. Along with our team of skilled specialists, we provide compassionate quality care for your loved ones so that you are given the gift of time through this difficult transition. We operate with the utmost integrity from our operational practices to the special care we provide for our patients.
What is Hospice?
Hospice care focuses on the care, comfort, and quality of life of a person with a serious illness who is approaching the end of life. At some point, it may not be possible to cure a serious illness, or a patient may choose not to undergo certain treatments. Hospice is designed for this situation.
Four Levels of Hospice Care
Level-1
Home Care
A hospice nurse visits intermittently, around 3 times a week, to manage and track your conditions.
Level-2
Continuous Home Care
Continuous home care occurs during a crisis when a nurse needs to stay with the patient for an extended period.
Level-3
General Inpatient Care
Inpatient settings include free standing hospice facilities, hospitals, and Nursing Homes.
Level-4
Respite care is a temporary (5-day limit) inpatient stay for the patient. It's intended to give the family caregiver some relief.

Hospice Eligibility
In order to be eligible to elect hospice care under Medicare, an individual must be entitled to Part A of Medicare and certified as being terminally ill by a physician and having a prognosis of 6 months or less if the disease runs its normal course.
